The Horses are Gone!

Written by Arpee on June 30, 2008 – 11:54 am -

Good riddance!

This infertility journey blog has a new frontpage picture instead of those horses… I am not a horse and I am not in a race (fertility or otherwise), so I didn’t really like that. For those of you who just discovered this blog, good for you - you did not have to withstand those pack of galloping horses.

What’s with the new picture? Nothing really. I could intellectualize it and say that it depicts the connection of women through their infertility - that the repetitive pattern shows the woman’s reproductive organs with 2 ovaries and the uterus; that each of this pattern is connected with each other - and therefore arrive to that conclusion!

The photo was actually taken by my brother at the Epcot Center last April 2007. It’s an architectural detail of one of the country’s buildings there - probably Morocco. It was originally all brown wood but after some coaxing, DH edited its color in CorelDraw to make it blue-hued so that the picture blends well with the theme of this infertility journey blog.

Hope you like it, too!

Stamp of Infertility

Written by Arpee on June 27, 2008 – 1:40 pm -

This is a postal stamp that Portugal released this year in March.

I can’t read their writing and the only things I could deduce from the CTT website was that it was a stamp of infertility (Selo Infertilidade) and that it costs 30 euros.

I assume that the stamp was one way to raise awareness to infertility in that Portugal.

I think it is beautiful in a poignant way. The stamp features a man and woman face to face. At their womb level is an outline of an imaginary child. I look at this and it shouts “empty womb” to me. Sigh…

CD25: Ultrasound 15 Days Post-Follistim

Written by Arpee on June 26, 2008 – 7:38 pm -

Today is the day to get my ultrasound done to see if the birth control pills have decreased the follicles that were stimulated by Follistim. From here, we will know how and when to proceed.

Well, here is the ultrasound image of the same left ovary I’ve been showing previously:

Children are A Treasure

Written by Arpee on June 25, 2008 – 9:47 am -

Children are a treasure from the Lord. You might not have heard the song but I suspect you have heard similar phrases in the past. I have and at first, I wondered… so where is MY blessing?

What Happens to the Unovulated Follicles?

Written by Arpee on June 24, 2008 – 9:13 am -

I should ask the question on what really happens to the follicles that were not triggered for ovulation to my doctor for the “official answer”. :) Anyhow since I went to the pill this cycle, this question suddenly popped out of nowhere and I started to think…

CD22: Waiting…

Written by Arpee on June 23, 2008 – 9:13 am -

Well, I am on my 12th day of Loestrin birth control pills.

The good thing is that I feel better with these pills than Femco. I have lesser bloating and sluggishness. I still do feel tenderness in the breasts and some random dull heaviness on the lower front and back pelvis. They are relatively less in intensity though.

I’m scheduled to go back for an ultrasound on Thursday 6/26. Read more »

In Between

Written by Arpee on June 13, 2008 – 11:12 pm -

Well, I am on birth control pills now.

That means, I am “in between” cycles, I guess. I still feel sleepy perhaps as a residual effect of the Follistim. I like the sleeping but I do not like feeling I have not done anything.

Well, ice cream, a movie and a meal outside of the house helps…

CD10: Follistim Day 8 Response (3rd Monitor)

Written by Arpee on June 12, 2008 – 5:07 pm -

Well, the good news is that I’ve got robust ovaries and plenty of growing follicles. Dr Hansard said that if we were doing IVF, then they would be perfect.

CD10: Follistim Day 8

Written by Arpee on June 11, 2008 – 3:48 pm -

Nothing new… still feeling bloated, sore and lazy.

Aside from this morning’s ladies’ bible study, I didn’t accomplish much really. Well, if you’d consider loading the dishwasher, boiling pasta, microwaving sausages and mixing them in pesto sauce as accomplishments, then I probably accomplished those.

Late in the evening, I was basically trailing my husband in the garden doing nothing, just picking up some pieces of rocks, weeds, etc here and there, while he had the tiring duty of digging through the seemingly impenetrable limestone. The crape myrtles have been waiting to be planted for about a week now…

Anyhow, has 25IU Follistim today. Tomorrow is monitor day so check with me again tomorrow and I’ll have the ultrasound images posted.

CD9: Follistim Day 7

Written by Arpee on June 11, 2008 – 12:14 am -

Gas Prices Arm Leg BothGas is now at $4/gallon so one of our cost-cutting actions is to use the smaller car together when I need to go to town. What that means is that I will have to spend the whole day in town to wait for DH to finish work so we can drive back home together. (Photo Source: wiseGEEK)

Spending a day in town is not a problem. In fact, Read more »
