CD25: Ultrasound 15 Days Post-Follistim

Written by Arpee on June 26, 2008 – 7:38 pm -

Today is the day to get my ultrasound done to see if the birth control pills have decreased the follicles that were stimulated by Follistim. From here, we will know how and when to proceed.

Well, here is the ultrasound image of the same left ovary I’ve been showing previously:
CD25 ultrasound left ovary follicles
(The long elongated thing that looks like it’s cradling my left ovary is supposed to be a blood vessel. Dr Hansard had medical term to it but I forgot what it was.)

The good news is that the left ovary has gone down to baseline level. The right ovary on the other hand has lesser follicles, BUT there are 2 residual follicles that are 22mm and 29mm BIG! (Recall the ultrasound response on CD10? There were many large follicles with the largest being 22mm. Looks like someone was still growing 15 days even after the last Follistim dose!)

Well, the next steps I have been advised are:
- Continue with the Loestrin birth control pill (I still have 7 more)
- Wait for my period and call Texas Fertility Clinic on CD1
- Ultrasound on CD1 to confirm ovary follicles are at baseline (ie. shrunk, gone, small)
- Start Follistim cycle #2 and dose gradually

So probably, next few days will be bloating, burning eyes and sleepiness again in anticipation of myperiod. Next exciting physiological data will probably be in 10 days - 7/7 maybe?

Tune back in regularly though because I plan to work on the rest of the pages of this website within next week. I have great things coming on this website. :)

Oh, by the way on the “official answer” on what happens to the unovulated follicles? “They go away.” I wish I had more scientific, more high falluting explanation, but I don’t. That’s what I was given. Enough for now :)

COST: $290 (Not sure why this ultrasound cost was more than the $180 typical rate I am used to. Note to self: Clarify with Texas Fertility Clinic.)
