CD13: Follistim Day 9 Response (Cycle #2)
Written by Arpee on July 20, 2008 – 11:59 pm -The leading follicle last Thursday really grew and it is ripe for the picking!
I don’t have ultrasound image to show today though because in my excitement, I forgot to remind Dr H to print it for me.
Endometrial Lining = 7.1 -> 10.2 -> 10.5
Right Ovary = 10: 7, 6/3, 5/5, 4 -> 6: 11, 10/3, 8, 7 -> 5: 16, 15, 14/2, 10
Left Ovary = 9: 8, 7, 6/4, 5, 4/2 -> 5: 14, 10, 9, 8/2 -> 5: 20, 15, 13, 11/2
Estradiol = 91 -> 380 -> ?
(For those who are new here - You can go to Follistim response in the top tabs to see the tabulation of all my stats summary from both cycles.)
Dr H said she’ll print an ultrasound image tomorrow. Maybe, it will not show up as big anymore though since I injected Ovidrel this afternoon. She also mentioned that the other 3 next biggest would be candidates too. So potentially I will ovulate 1-4 eggs. Yaiikkks -potentially, quadrups?
So… we will be going in for our very first IUI tomorrow !!!
When I asked Dr H about the probability of conception for IUI, I initially got the “it depends on the quality of the egg”. I eventually got some quantity: 20-25%. This is about the same as the IVF success rates (live birth) they have for my age range.
We then asked about what the effect of SA low morphology to this probability and she said that post-count wash count was more important that morphology. The desired level is 10million count. I better go take care of the boys now.
Meanwhile, say a prayer for us!

CD10: Follistim Day 6 Response (Cycle #2)
Written by Arpee on July 17, 2008 – 1:38 pm -Murphy threw a couple of curveballs today - I woke up late because of tossing and turning last night thinking of the “expired” Follistim (will post about this separately) and then I had to get some gas because DH did not replenish the car’s gas. So there I was late for a 7:30am ultrasound appointment, so I detoured for the blood draw because I didn’t want to be late for both. It was already 8:45 when I came in for my ultrasound appointment. Dr Hansard graciously squeezed me into her schedule - but not without asking me why I was late.
I have 1 “leading” follicle - yehey!!!

Comparing Follistim Cycle 1 vs 2
Written by Arpee on July 16, 2008 – 8:31 am -I just added a new page called “Follistim Response” - you can find it on the top tabs (near Home, Costs, Jargon, etc).
It contains the Follistim dosages per day and the corresponding response on the monitor days - ultrasound measurements of the follicles on the right ovary, left ovary and endometrial lining and the estradiol levels.
It’s a good summary for me since I can see everything in one page and can easily compare my responses based on the dosage variations between the 1st and 2nd cycles of Folllistim.
If you find it useful for comparison, drop me a note!

CD7: Follistim Day 3 Response (Cycle #2)

Other stats are as follows:
Endometrial Lining = 7.1
Right Ovary = 10: 7, 6/3, 5/5, 4
Left Ovary = 9: 8, 7, 6/4, 5, 4/2

CD7: Follistim Day 3 (Cycle #2)
Written by Arpee on July 13, 2008 – 9:56 pm -Well, this is the second Follistim cycle and as you know from the previous post, I have been instructed to give myself 75, 75, 75 IU injections in the last 3 days. This is in the hopes that I take it “slow” and avoid OHSS.
Early tomorrow, I go for Estradiol blood draw and ultrasound to monitor my response to this lower Follistim dosages. I’m excited to see how my ovaries and follicles responded this time. Check back tomorrow for the ultrasound image!
Meanwhile, I’m not having the same severity of adverse effects as the first cycle (and higher dosage) of Follistim. I still have some mild burning eyes and dull ache on the lower buttocks but they did not stop me in cooking up a storm for my husband’s birthday! I am also spotting a bit. I better check that last one with the doctor tomorrow (because I got confused about this the last time).
FYI also, I am using the leftover Follistim from my first cycle. Recall that my doctor’s previous advice that I should just keep it in the refrigerator and it will still be good for my next cycle - which is now! I need to check with the doctor also on the drug’s literature which stated that it is good for 28 days once opened. I opened that in June 4, so 28 days would be July 2. And I started using the leftover on July 11.

CD10: Follistim Day 8 Response (3rd Monitor)
Written by Arpee on June 12, 2008 – 5:07 pm -Well, the good news is that I’ve got robust ovaries and plenty of growing follicles. Dr Hansard said that if we were doing IVF, then they would be perfect.

CD10: Follistim Day 8
Written by Arpee on June 11, 2008 – 3:48 pm -Nothing new… still feeling bloated, sore and lazy.
Aside from this morning’s ladies’ bible study, I didn’t accomplish much really. Well, if you’d consider loading the dishwasher, boiling pasta, microwaving sausages and mixing them in pesto sauce as accomplishments, then I probably accomplished those.
Late in the evening, I was basically trailing my husband in the garden doing nothing, just picking up some pieces of rocks, weeds, etc here and there, while he had the tiring duty of digging through the seemingly impenetrable limestone. The crape myrtles have been waiting to be planted for about a week now…
Anyhow, has 25IU Follistim today. Tomorrow is monitor day so check with me again tomorrow and I’ll have the ultrasound images posted.

Written by Arpee on June 11, 2008 – 12:14 am -
Gas is now at $4/gallon so one of our cost-cutting actions is to use the smaller car together when I need to go to town. What that means is that I will have to spend the whole day in town to wait for DH to finish work so we can drive back home together. (Photo Source: wiseGEEK)
Spending a day in town is not a problem. In fact, Read more »

Written by Arpee on June 11, 2008 – 12:00 am -An ovary full of growing follicles is a sight to behold. Check out the ultrasound image of my precious left ovary and follicles:

CD8: Follistim Day 6
Written by Arpee on June 9, 2008 – 10:59 pm -More bloating, more burning eyes and more sleepiness. Typical symptoms to hormonal stimulation, I guess.
I feel a little soreness or pain on my left pelvis. My body feels like it just wants to sit down or lie down.
I feel like I’m always full up to the neck. I have been burping the whole day. And sometimes, some stomach liquids come up with the burp. I know it sounds yucky but that’s what’s happening…
I had a 75 Follistim today as well. Then I go for a response monitor tomorrow. So check with me again tomorrow and I’ll have the ultrasound images posted.
